A STEP CLOSER TO HYDRO-ELECRICITY AT CROMFORD MILL

It has been an exciting morning at Cromford Mill today as the restored Water Turbine, which will provide hydro-electric power to the mill, was lifted and carefully and lowered into position in the newly constructed turbine housing.

Oakenstone have been delighted to contribute to this major project at the Mill, providing expert labour and design consultancy throughout, and today has been a great opportunity to witness the fruits of everyone’s labours as water-powered electricity generation moves a step closer to becoming a reality at this nationally important heritage site.

Now that the turbine is safely in position, OakenStone will connect the huge water pipes which will channel a powerful flow of water from the mill race, through the turbine.

Restoration of the ancient stone walls, that were dismantled to allow for the construction of the turbine chamber, will then complete the project and restore the appropriate historical appearance of the surrounding stonework.

Why not visit the mill to see this impressive piece of civil engineering for yourself?  Or if your designs are closer to home, see how OakenStone can help to make your building dreams a reality?
