Dave’s passion is for understanding the context of a building and working out how it best fits its environment – so it’s no surprise that the company name is inspired by the Derbyshire landscape and the natural materials it provides.

As OakenStone’s lead designer and value engineer, Dave meets with all new clients to discuss projects from the outset.  He assesses each project individually, offering advice on design options, legalities, technicalities of the build and timescales.

Further into the process, as Operations Manager Dave supervises all builds, managing trades and liaising with the site foreman.

Originally from London, Dave moved to Derbyshire over 25 years ago. He has raised a family here, is a Parish Councillor and Trustee of a local Historic Building Charity. 

Dave loves the local landscape. He’s an avid climber and caver, and also enjoys going to Coldplay concerts.  He’s passionate about architectural history too, and is delighted to let you know that the OakenStone office is in Arkwright Mills, the first ever factory in the world to have a Grade I Listed Star.
