BRINGING AN OLD BUILDING BACK TO LIFE

It takes real craftsmanship and expertise to rescue a derelict agricultural barn, whilst respecting and preserving the character of the original building.

Using the original stone our talented team faithfully reconstructed and rebuilt sections of the badly damaged walls. Next came the painstaking task of cleaning out all the old mortar and re-pointing the entire building using traditional lime mortar. It’s not yet complete, but already we can see the building’s beauty beginning to emerge. The roof has been completely rebuilt with new timbers, and re-tiled using as many of the original clay tiles as possible.

By re-using materials wherever possible OakenStone can reduce waste and lessen the environmental impact of the works and of course we can preserve the building’s original beauty and character. On a project like this it’s wonderful to see how modern technology and processes can work in tandem with ancient methods and materials to produce outstanding results for the building and of course, our client.
