Nestled in rolling farmland on the edge of a village, deep in the Derbyshire Dales, this beautiful low-carbon family home was born out of the bones of a near derelict old barn.

OakenStone’s ingenious design takes full advantage of the potential of the site which provides ground-source heating, as well as a safe garden where the children will play and grow. Thoughtfully placed windows and openings provide breathtaking views whilst respecting the character and history of the original building.

In the midst of a global pandemic, we were careful to review every aspect of site safety and adjust our working practices to ensure we were Covid secure and that the build team and clients were always safe. This enabled us to continue to work throughout the 2020 lockdown to deliver this remarkable transformation on time, and on budget.
